Aerosmith Guitarist Hospitalized
The renowned Aerosmith guitarist, Joe Perry was reported to be in stable condition on Monday after he was hospitalized in a New York hospital after falling ill at a concert. The 65 year-old musician was performing at Coney Island alongside the Hollywood Vampires group when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.
He was taken backstage where he was attended by fire department personnel as well as the New York police before being taken to the hospital. According to a tweet posted on the guitarist’s official Twitter account on Monday, the health personnel did not yet know what caused Perry to collapse. The tweet also thanked fans for their support and said that he was in a stable condition.
Another tweet by Alice Cooper, one of the members of the Hollywood Vampires group, thanked the fans for the support that they showed Joe Perry. It also affirmed the fact that the musician was now in stable condition and under the care of medical personnel. Thousands of fans and friends used social media to express their concerns over Perry’s health and wished him a quick recovery.
Perry real name is Antony Joseph Pereira and he was born on September 10, 1950. He is a lead guitarist, contributing writer, and occasionally takes the role of lead vocalist in the American rock band, Aerosmith. In 2001, he was inducted into the famous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the ASCAP Founders Award alongside Steven Tyler in 2013.
During the early years of his career, he formed a band called The Jam Band, with Tom Hamilton. They decided to change the name of the group to Aerosmith after Steven Tyler, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford joined them.
